CINDERELA – New Circular Economy Business Model | for More Sustainable Urban Construction

Aim: development and demonstration of a new circular economy business model for the effective use of secondary raw materials produced from different waste streams and coming from the same urban or suburban area.

Project tasks:

  • assessment of the recovery potential of raw materials from different waste streams for 6 regions: Maribor (Slovenia) Sisak-Moslovina (Croatia), Madrid-Heneras (Spain), Trento (Italy), Katowice (Poland), Amsterdam (The Netherlands),
  • development and testing of new building materials based on secondary raw materials from construction and demolition waste, industrial waste, heavy fraction from municipal waste and sewage sludge from sewage treatment plant, using various recovery techniques,
  • 4 demonstration projects from the construction industry, in Slovenia, Croatia and Spain, using new materials and tools for building information modelling (BIM),
  • business model in the form of the Cinder One-Stop-Shop online platform, enabling the establishment of organisational and business connections between industrial waste producers, construction sector and municipal sector as well as local and regional decision makers towards the efficient use of raw materials for urban construction.
