Context<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

The RISERS roadmap on industrial symbiosis standardisation<\/strong> is being developed as a strategic reference for European and national standardisation bodies, industry stakeholders, policymakers, and R&I actors. It supports the objectives of the Circular Economy Action Plan<\/strong>, and the EU Standardisation Strategy<\/strong>, while contributing to ongoing policy files such as the revision of the Waste Framework Directive<\/strong>, the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation<\/strong> (ESPR), and the upcoming European Innovation Act<\/strong>. By identifying standardisation needs in ten priority areas\u2014from end-of-waste criteria and digital traceability to sector-specific value chains such as batteries, steel, and textiles\u2014the roadmap aims to enable the broader uptake of industrial symbiosis across Europe.<\/p>\n

It builds on extensive stakeholder engagement, including the mapping of over 600 industrial symbiosis cases<\/strong>, targeted consultations with CEN and CENELEC Technical Committees, and a first round of Working Group meetings<\/strong> held throughout spring 2025. The November plenary is a key milestone to validate preliminary recommendations, consolidate cross-cutting findings, and define the next phase of roadmap development<\/strong>. It will ensure that the final roadmap is actionable, inclusive, and aligned with Europe\u2019s policy ambitions for circularity, innovation, and sustainable industrial transformation.<\/p>\n
