Dr. Anna Starzewska-Sikorska presented the experience gained by local governments and research units during the implementation of the projects:<strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.interreg-central.eu\/Content.Node\/LUMAT.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">LUMAT - Implementation of Sustainable Land Use in Integrated Environmental Management of Functional Urban Areas<\/a> <\/strong>and\u00a0CIRCUSE - Circular Land Use Management.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><em>It is worth mentioning that revitalisation activities support also the adaptation of the city to climate change<\/em>.<em> The problem of exposure of urban population to\u00a0the\u00a0negative effects of climate change will increase, as more and more people live in cities and\u00a0functional areas (currently about 75% of the population in Europe). Activities increasing the\u00a0resilience of cities to the negative effects of climate change require - in addition to an integrated approach in\u00a0the\u00a0planning and implementation of individual projects - the creation of partnerships involving entities at various levels of management, which these projects are able to implement - <\/em>said Dr. Anna Starzewska-Sikorska<em>.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><div id=\"pgc-9739-0-1\"  class=\"panel-grid-cell\" ><div class=\"panel-cell-style panel-cell-style-for-9739-0-1\" ><div class=\"so-wrapper textwidget content-white\" style=\"\">\r\n    <p><strong>The INTERACT 2014-2020 Programme provides expert assistance to national administration units and\u00a0programme institutions involved in the implementation of the projects realised under\u00a0the\u00a0European Territorial Cooperation Programme. The Programme covers the entire territory of\u00a0the European Union, Norway and Switzerland.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\r\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div id=\"pg-9739-1\"  class=\"panel-grid panel-has-style\" ><div class=\"background_repeat bg-center panel-row-style panel-row-style-for-9739-1\" ><div id=\"pgc-9739-1-0\"  class=\"panel-grid-cell\" ><div id=\"panel-9739-1-0-0\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_sow-editor panel-first-child panel-last-child\" data-index=\"2\" ><div\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\tclass=\"so-widget-sow-editor so-widget-sow-editor-base\"\n\t\t\t\n\t\t>\n<div class=\"siteorigin-widget-tinymce textwidget\">\n\t<p>There are about 35 territorial cooperation programmes in the European Union, called INTERREG, from\u00a0which public organisations can get financial support to develop and implement particular projects in order to better understand and adapt to climate change.<\/p>\n<p>During the session <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NebojshaNikolic\/status\/1071429614235467776\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nebojsa Nikolic<\/a>, the Interact Programme and Monika Strojecka-Gevorgyan, the\u00a0Ministry of Investment and Economic Development, emphasised the importance of European Union funds and INTERREG programmes for building cooperation and involvement in activities aimed at climate protection and adaptation to the effects of climate change.
