Workshop RE-PLAN CITY LIFE – The use of recyclates from tyre processing in road construction. Ruberized asphalt applications – 01.10.2025
As part of the RE-PLAN CITY LIFE project, IETU invites you to attend the workshop 'The use of recyclates from tyre processing in road construction. Rubberised Asphalt Applications', which is to held on 1st October 2025 in Katowice, Poland, and on the MS Teams platform. The workshops will include a short block of presentations, followed by a discussion among experts and stakeholders. The meeting will also include a site visit to the bituminous mass production plant.

Bituminous mass production plant, mineral-asphalt mixtures
The implementation of new technologies that comply with the principles of Circular Economy, using recycled raw materials is extremely important in Poland and throughout the EU, both in the context of avoiding of waste and the use of its material potential, as well as the reduction of natural resource exploitation. This also applies to all investments in urban infrastructure supervised and commissioned by local governments. One of critical sector is road construction, where the implementation of asphalt modified with recycled tire rubber is becoming increasingly common and promoted worldwide. Research results and completed projects indicate that it is rational to promote such solutions in domestic road investments in Poland as well.
Asphalt modified with rubber from recycled tires is characterized by high quality and offers many additional advantages over traditional mineral-asphalt mixtures. These include, among others:
- high surface durability/ strength and resistance to damage (including cracking and rutting),
- increased resistance to water and extreme weather conditions (both high and low temperatures),
- increased functional properties (anti-skid, reduced noise emissions, glare reduction etc.).
The workshops will provide an opportunity to learn about important aspects of using recycled tyre rubber modified bitumen and to present the tools developed within the project to encourage public authorities to become more involved in the use of best practices and Green Public Procurement (GPP) in road investments.Meeting will provide a unique opportunity for exchange experiences and interaction with relevant stakeholders. The workshop, is free and open to anyone.
For whom
We invite the stakeholders from various industries related to tyre recycling and road investments, engineers, designers, as well as representatives of local authorities and scientific institutions.
The aim of Workshop is to provide a lively forum of Stakeholders and to discuss
- analysis of identified barriers to the use of rubber-modified asphalt
- presenting tools that can help overcome these obstacles
- appropriate strategies for engaging public authorities and implementing Green Public Procurement aspects
- identifying possible synergies between EU projects and programmes and strengthening cooperation
- Create the basis for new projects
Agenda
Wednesday, 1st October 2025

See you in Katowice!
RE-PLAN CITY LIFE project aims to increase awareness on the use of Recycled Tyre Materials (RTMs), promote environmentally friendly behaviors in urban communities, stimulate the adoption of Circular Economy best practices, and create further opportunities of cooperation and implementation through new projects. The meeting will aim to analyse and discuss which actions and initiatives should be adopted in order to stimulate a wider use of rubberised asphalt.
The event is oranized by the RE-PLAN CITY LIFE project, that has received funding from the European Union’s LIFE programme under LIFE20 GIE FR 282 and is co-financed by National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management, Poland
