In the summer edition of the EU Research magazine you can read an article concerning MISCOMAR project coordinated by IETU - Miscanthus biomass options for contaminated and marginal land: quality, quantity and soil interactions.
UE Research magazine is a widely available journal promoting research. Each edition addresses a different topic area, presenting knowledge in a popularizing form.
In the summer 2018 edition you can read an interview with the implementers of two projects financed from the European Commission Programme FACCE-JPI – ClimGen and MISCOMAR – concerning interdisciplinary scientific research on climate change, sustainable agriculture and food safety.
Dr. Marta Pogrzeba and Dr. Jacek Krzyżak from IETU, who has been carrying out the MISCOMAR project, presented works on the development of techniques for cultivation of new Miscanthus seed genotypes for energy purposes on poor quality soils and wasteland, including soil contaminated with heavy metals, in Poland, Germany and Great Britain.
Under the MISCOMAR project IETU cooperates with two European scientific units that have been dealing with cultivation of biomass for energy purposes for many years - the University of Aberystwyth (Wales) and the University of Hohenheim (Germany).
More information on the carried out research can be found in the EU Research magazine UE Research
