UCR Trialogue – A Trialogue on Climate Resilience in Cities

The main objective of the project is: The 'Urban Climate Resilience Trialogue' project aims to develop sustainable green space management methods in Erkner and Zielona Góra in order to adapt to climate change. This will involve local government, the scientific community and civil society. These methods include developing urban climate maps and a verified catalogue of sustainable green space management solutions, as well as developing guidelines for transferring project results to urban planning. Other activities include implementing projects in pilot areas and creating model solutions for subsequent areas.

Activities:

1. Laying the foundations for the project: launch, formation of working groups, development of a communication structure

- An inaugural event with an urban rally in Erkner (1^(st) international meeting);
- A communication strategy.

2. Finalisation of urban climate maps and the catalogue of solutions; assessment of pilot areas; selection of implementation methods.

- Project event with a city tour in Zielona Góra (2^(nd) international meeting);
- Development and presentation of urban climate maps for Erkner and Zielona Góra by Working Group 1, 'Urban Climate Maps', established under Action Package 1;
- Development and presentation of a catalogue of solutions for green spaces ('Kubiret') by Working Group 2, 'Catalogue of Solutions', established under Action Package 1;
- Measurement of baseline parameters in pilot areas in Erkner and Zielona Góra by Working Group 3, 'Pilot Actions';
- Project-related communication and publication and dissemination of results: Urban climate maps of Erkner and Zielona Góra; a catalogue of solutions; and baseline measurements of pilot areas.

3. Implementation of changes and verification in the pilot areas of Erkner and Zielona Góra; publication of results.

- Implementation of changes in the pilot areas in Erkner and Zielona Góra and measurement of changed parameters;
- Closing event in Zielona Góra (third international meeting);
- Publication of project results and UCR guidelines on the project website, in the newsletter, at networking events/conferences and on knowledge platforms.

Project outputs:

Package 1: Participation in a cross-border event to exchange professional knowledge (60 participants).

Package 2: Participation in a cross-border event for the exchange of professional knowledge (100 participants).

Package 3: Participation in cross-border events for the exchange of professional knowledge (80 participants).
Implementation of four pilot actions in two areas in Erkner and Zielona Góra (four pilot actions).
UCR Guide (one solution).

Project outcome:

A UCR Guide summarising the project results will be developed.

- List of data sources for urban climate assessment
- Urban climate maps of Erkner and Zielona Góra
- 'Kubiret' solutions catalogue (concept for developing biodiversity-rich retention areas to cool urban spaces)
- Documentation of pilot actions
- Evaluation of pilot actions

The UCR Guide, available in German, Polish and English, will present the results of selected and implemented climate change adaptation measures for cross-border cities. It can be used as a guide for climate change adaptation in cities.

The UCR Guide will be made available to the general public.

During the project and for one year after its completion, the following organisations will use the UCR Guide (implementing the solutions it contains): Erkner Housing Cooperative, Lobetal Foundation and City of Zielona Góra.
