The National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management of Poland together with Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Kyiv and Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine organize at 28th May 2021 a Polish-Ukrainian virtual roundtable on energy transformation. Piotr Cofałka - IETU Deputy Director for Research and Development will present during the session "Just transition of coal regions" information on the project implemented by IETU " Poland - Ukraine knowledge exchange for coal regions in transition - study tours of stakeholders from Ukraine in Polish coal regions", financed by National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management.
The meeting would serve as a good opportunity to discuss similarities of challenges faced by both Poland and Ukraine on the way to green economy. We also hope that the discussion will provide a good testing ground for new cooperation ideas in this field. During the meeting we would like to cover the following issues:
- Creation of country-wide system of financing environmental protection;
- Just transition of coal regions;
- Role of the buildings sector in GHG emissions reduction (elimination of smog and energy efficiency improvement).
