IETU in ECERA – the European Circular Economy Research Alliance

IETU takes part in the works of the European Circular Economy Research Alliance (ECERA) – an organisation established to promote the development of circular economy in Europe.

ECERA is a voluntary collaboration network between European RTO’s, with the aim to strengthen and integrate scientific knowledge and expertise in the field of circular economy from an interdisciplinary perspective.

ECERA founding members are: Tecnalia (ES), VTT (FI), VITO (BE), Wuppertal (DE), IVL (SE), ENEA (IT), IETU (PL), SINTEF (NO), TNO (NL).

ECERA’s main activity includes:

  • promotion and development of R&I in different technological and non-technological areas of circular economy, through the set-up of Working Groups
  • consultancy on economic and social policy in the context of circular economy at the European, national and regional levels
  • revision of technical and scientific knowledge in the areas of joint activities and promotion of consultations and exchange of experience
  • establishing links and cooperation with other organisations involved in the same areas of circular economy, both within and outside the European Union

development of research infrastructure for pilot actions and demonstration of circular economy solutions to entrepreneurs, in that newly established SMEs and spin-offs.

Development of circular economy will improve the global competitiveness of enterprises, foster sustainable economic growth and creation of new jobs through more efficient use of resources, from production and consumption to waste management and secondary raw materials market.
