The composition of the mission of the new Horizon Europe Framework Programme with the participation of Dr. Marta Pogrzeba, Prof. of IETU

The European Commission has announced the composition of the mission of the new Horizon Europe Framework Programme. Poles participate in four out of five missions. Among them is Dr. Marta Pogrzeba, Prof. of IETU, whose research area is environmental remediation.

The experts, whose names were announced by the European Commissioner for Research Carlos Moedas, became board members of the five main research and innovation missions that will make up the Horizon Europe Programme. Each mission board consists of 15 experts, including a chairman. Among the 75 experts selected for the mission boards are four Poles:

  • Marta Pogrzeba (Mission Board for Soil Health and Food)
  • Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz (Chairwoman of the Mission Board for Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities)
  • Monika Stankiewicz (Mission Board for Healthy Oceans, Seas, Coastal and Inland Waters)
  • Konrad Rydzyński (Mission Board for Cancer)

Horizon Europe is the largest research and innovation funding programme in European history. It is open for all European citizens, not only for scientists and entrepreneurs.
The experts’ responsibility will be to support the European Commission in the preparation of legislative proposals or other political initiatives and consulting in the following areas:

  • identification and design of the mission in a given area
  • the content of the work programmes and their revision, if necessary, in order to achieve the objectives of the mission, with the participation of stakeholders and the public, if appropriate
  • characteristics of project portfolios for missions
  • adaptation measures or termination of the agreement, as appropriate, based on performance
  • assessments in accordance with the mission's specific objectives
  • selection of independent evaluation experts, evaluation criteria and their weight
  • framework conditions that help achieve mission goals
  • communication, e.g. on the mission’s achievements
  • policy coordination between relevant actors at different levels, in particular regarding synergie with other EU policies
  • key performance indicators
